Heather Chalos

Vice President, Alignment Nashville

As Vice President, Heather oversees AN Operations, Human Resources and National Initiatives, including the Nashville Hub. She has previously served Alignment Nashville in the roles of Vice President of Operations and Associate Director. Heather is a graduate of Belmont University and joined Alignment Nashville in 2012 after having worked in children’s health for over twelve years. Her background and expertise includes non-profit management, medical practice management, volunteer management and collective impact consulting
and coaching.


Starr Herrman

Director of Consulting

Starr Herrman is recognized as a national expert for her work with high school transformation, and particularly the academy model. She was instrumental in planning, directing and implementing the smaller learning communities/academies model for the Metro Nashville Public School system from 2006 to 2012. She is a former high school teacher, CTE Director and IT manager. Since retirement in 2012, Starr has served as the Director of Consulting for the Nashville Hub, serves on the Ford NGL Leadership Council, consults with many districts across the U.S. in high school transformation and is a National Career Academy Coalition accreditation reviewer. Starr has been published and quoted in various articles and journals, presented at national conferences, webinars, and is passionate about the academy model.


Andrew Duffel

Program Administrator

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a Master of Business Administration degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. Before joining the Alignment Nashville team, Andrew worked for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services from 2006-2014 in the areas of Juvenile Justice, Residential Case Management, and Child Protective Services.


Justin Sweatman-Weaver

Events and Communications Manager

As Alignment Nashville’s Events & Communication Manager, Justin oversees all of the organization’s communication platforms and facilitates the planning and implementation of the local and national programming including the Music City SEL Conference, Nashville Hub Study Visits, and other events.

Prior to joining the Alignment Nashville team in 2017, Justin spent seven years working with anti-drug coalitions in Tennessee. As a state leader in substance abuse prevention, Justin managed state and federal grants for multiple organizations and mentored developing coalitions in Middle Tennessee and his hometown in Fentress County. He also served as a voice for coalitions to the Tennessee General Assembly as Advocacy Officer for the Prevention Alliance of Tennessee. Justin has extensive volunteer leadership experience with organizations serving youth and the LGBTQ+ community.
